Moving-day bulky item disposal checklist
A general checklist. Rules differ by city and change often; always confirm with your city (311) or the official source linked in each city guide.
- List every bulky item you will not move: mattresses, couches, appliances, furniture, electronics.
- Look up your city's rules on Bulky Atlas (links below). Each guide links to the official city source.
- Check whether your city needs an appointment or request for bulky pickup, and how far ahead.
- Check for items with special rules in your city's guide (for example appliances, mattresses, or electronics).
- Consider donating or selling usable items first; confirm the charity accepts the item.
- Only set items out at the time and place your city allows.
- Save any confirmation number or receipt until the item is collected.
